In just 3 days, we’re going to back Hogwarts.
We’ll be at LeakyCon in Orlando, FL this whole weekend. This is one of our favorite times of the year. It’s also one of our busiest. Our plans include five panels, orchestrating a magical book swap, and winning a Quidditch showdown. Here’s where you’ll be able to find us around the con:
At the Marketplace
When we’re not winning Quidditch matches, running panels, or singing Total Eclipse of the Heart, we’ll be open for business in the Marketplace. This’ll be where you can find our merchandise, including some throwback t-shirts in the bargain bin and our Books Turn Muggles Into Wizards journals.
While you’re there, you can also buy tickets for our raffle. The winner will win a copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone signed by one J.K. Rowling. You know, the lady who wrote it. Maybe you’ve heard of her? Seriously. It’s signed and you could win it!
Our booth will also be the home to our Apparating Library. Our magical book swap first materialized in LeakyCon London last year. It’s been around the world since then, and we’re so psyched to see it come back to where it all began.
Here’s everything you need to know to participate:

We will, however, shut down for our not-to-be-missed Quidditch match versus LeakyCon staff.
As soon as the opening ceremonies come to a close, we’ll be gearing up to sweep the floor with LeakyCon staff. We challenged them to a quidditch showdown back in April and have put in some serious training in preparation. It’ll all come to a head in the Marketplace Thursday night at 7:30pm, so head on over to cheer for us!
Our official programming consists of five panels:
- Engaging in Positive Fandom with Paul DeGeorge, Melissa Anelli, Neil Cicierega, Meghan Tonjes, and Dani Palmer. Friday at 1PM.
- Dumbledore’s Army Meeting feat. Harry Potter (yes, really). Saturday at 11AM.
- How Fandom is Changing the World with Andrew Slack, Lauren Bird, Hannah Hart, Meghan Tonjes, Tumblr’s Amandalyn Ferri and Alicia Radford from US Quidditch. Saturday at 12PM.
- What Would Dumbledore Do? with Andrew Slack. Saturday at 4PM.
- Make It IRL with Paul DeGeorge, Andrew Slack, Lauren Bird, and Matt Maggiacomo. Saturday at 5PM.
This year, Esther Day will kick off right in the middle of the Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball and continues into the closing events. We’re so excited to celebrate our favorite holiday at an event that captures its spirit so well. Esther is a LeakyCon alumni, so we can’t think of a better place and time. August 3rd. Be Ready.
There will be plenty of surprises along the way, so whether you’re at the event or following along from home, keep an eye on our social media to stay in the loop.
Oh, and one last place you can find us: chugging butterbeers at the Leaky Cauldron.
See ya there,
The HPA
